Situé dans le champ de la socio-histoire, mon travail porte principalement sur l’intellection des formes corporelles de la vie sociale, autrement dit sur la place des conduites corporelles, des socialisations et des mises en jeu du corps, et notamment la construction du « vivre sportivement », dans les luttes de classement et de reclassement auxquels se livrent les groupes sociaux en compétition pour la définition des manières d’être légitimes. En prenant pour terrain l’ordre des pratiques sociales et celui de l’autonomisation des contextes d’action qui passent par le corps (vacances, sport, plage, travail, etc.), mais aussi en étudiant la construction de champs de spécialistes des choses corporelles, comme les médecins, les juristes, l’État, l’école ou le clergé, dont les rapports de force sont constitutifs des catégorisations corporelles du monde social, c’est à ce programme général, celui en quelque sorte d’une socio-histoire du « capital corporel », que je consacre mes travaux. Outre qu’ils prennent appui sur des terrains d’analyses qui concernent la genèse des catégories de jugement qui ont présidé à l’autonomisation historique d’un espace des sports et à la spectacularisation des activités sportives (gestes, jeu, critique, organisation, perception), mais aussi la sociologie historique des sensibilités (bruits, douleur, ennui) comme mode de construction des conduites sociales, ce travail de recherche s’adosse à une plus large réflexion sur l’épistémologie des sciences sociales.

Rooted in the field of sociology and historical sociology, my work focuses mainly on the understanding of the bodily forms of social life, ie on the place of bodily conducts, socializations and the play of the body, and in particular the construction of the “To live sportingly”, in the struggles of classification and reclassification by which the social groups are engaged in the definition of the “ways of being”. By taking as ground the order of social practices and that of the empowerment of action contexts which pass through the body (holidays, sport, beach, work, etc.), but also by studying the construction of fields of specialists in “bodily matters”, such as doctors, lawyers, the State, the school or the clergy, whose power relations constitute the bodily categorizations of the social world, it is to this general program, a sort of socio-history of "body capital", that I devote my researches. Besides that they are based on analyzes which concern the genesis of the categories of judgment which presided over the historical autonomy of a space of sports and the spectacularization of sporting activities (gestures, play, criticism, organization, perception), but also the historical sociology of sensitivities (noise, pain, boredom) as a way of constructing social behavior, this research work is based on a broader reflection on the epistemology of the social sciences.
